beachBUB ULTRA Beach Umbrella Base is ASTM Compliant

Every beachBUB All-In-One Beach Umbrella System includes the beachBUB ULTRA Beach Umbrella Base which is fully compliant with the ASTM F3681-24 Beach Umbrella Safety Standard.

Engineers from the Consumer Product Safety Commission have determined that for a 7½' umbrella to be safe it must incorporate 75 lbs of resistance at the bottom pole. This was found to be effective in securing an umbrella in winds up to 30 mph.

The beachBUB ULTRA Base exceeds the safety specification by 160% when properly filled. As municipalities begin to implement this standard on their public beaches beachgoers will need to use an ASTM F3681.24 compliant anchor or run the risk of not being permitted to use their umbrella on the beach.

Stainless Steel Hardware

The chain and hitch pin, as well as the collar bolts, now feature stainless steel to prevent rusting and corrosion.   

Commercial-Grade Three-Piece Hub Design

A common problem with generic beach umbrellas is canopy inversion. This is caused when the excessive force of the wind pulls the ribs away from the hub system. The average pulling force necessary to disengage a rib from a typical beach umbrella hub is about 40 lbs. Our new three-piece specially designed hub system has been tested at over 400 lbs of pulling force. We identified the weak link and made it stronger. 

Canopy Tension Adjustment System

One of the major new additions in the most recent model of the beachBUB® Beach Umbrella System is the ability to adjust the tension of the umbrella canopy. We noticed that many other brands of beach umbrellas often struggle over time with ribs poking through the canopy, so we have reinforced the rib pockets on the umbrella canopy and added a T-shaped bracket inside each pocket.

This new bracket prevents the rib from wearing on the umbrella canopy’s tightly woven fabrics. It also allows us to insert a small plastic spacer plug in each rib pocket. These spacer plugs can be used to adjust the overall tension of the umbrella canopy. If your canopy is too tight and difficult to open, simply remove as many of the plugs as necessary to achieve the desired canopy tension. Likewise, if the canopy tension is too loose, simply add additional plugs to create more tension. (Additional plugs are provided and are located in the pocket of each carry bag.)

We Made the Bag Even Stronger

Our adjustments aren’t restricted to the umbrella system itself. We’ve made the carry bag better than ever by adding reinforcement stitching at 11 different stress points on the bag, increasing the width of the shoulder strap, and adding extra padding. We’ve also made the drawstring and button stop more heavy-duty than ever.

How It Works

Prepare the Space

If the sand is really dry and powdery, start by brushing away the very top layer of dry sand to make a nice firm flat space for your umbrella base. Lay the beachBUB® flat on the beach. Use the Sand Gopher Tool by inserting it into the sand where you want to plant your umbrella pole.

As you push the Sand Gopher into the sand, give it a quarter-turn twist as you go. Then simply pull the Sand Gopher out, and it will remove a plug of sand. Fling the sand out of the Sand Gopher and repeat until you have a hole that is 11 inches deep.

Insert the bottom pole through the center hole of the beachBUB® umbrella up to the orange label. Connect two wings to form a pouch. Fill the base halfway with sand. Attach the third wing to form the pyramid base. Completely fill the base with sand.
